Description / Qualifications

General Summary: Prepares payroll and all related reporting and submits to Paylocity Payroll Service for processing. Assists offsite HR Manager with implementation of various HR programs and policies and procedures. Administers workers compensation program. Provides administrative support to offsite HR Manager and backup support for various administrative functions within the organization.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Maintain employee personnel, health and training databases, files and records.
  • Responsible for maintenance and updating of Attendance program of all employees and processing bi-weekly     payroll.
  • Responsible for compiling payroll data such as hours worked, commissions, monies to be withheld for taxes, employee contributions to insurance , etc. from time and attendance system, time sheets and other records.
  • Calculates and deducts employee garnishment amounts including child support and reporting as necessary.
  • Responsible for updating master payroll records by verifying and recording changes affecting net wages such as federal and state tax exemptions, insurance coverage, and data concerning compensation increases.
  • Maintains various files for I-9, drug screening and other required reporting and/or documents.
  • Processes monthly reports as needed, i.e. seniority list, head count, etc.
  • Compiles annual PTO, vacation, Sick/Personal time for employees. Handles processing of payouts for Union annually or at time of termination.
  • Responsible for administration of employee benefits, including medical, vision, dental, STD/LTD, 401k, Life/AD&D insurances and worker’s comp administration.
  • Answers questions and directs employees to appropriate resources for benefits.
  • Assists in maintaining OSHA information in the ISN network and other similar networks.
  • Creates confidential Human Resource reports for department managers and various payroll/accounting reports as needed.
  • Assists in carrying out various human resource programs, policies and procedures for all company employees. Provides administrative support to offsite Human Resource Manager.
  • Administers worker’s compensation program including initial accident reporting, communication with worker’s compensation carrier, OSHA 200 log maintenance and processes miscellaneous workers compensation reports as needed.
  • Answers the switchboard as part of a rotation and assists in other administrative areas as needed. These may include the accounting and sales departments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Human Resources Management.
  • Good understanding of payroll processing procedures, human resource practices and workers compensation administration. Knowledge of union contract necessary for hourly shop payroll processing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Prior experience with Paylocity payroll helpful.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
