2011 LIGHTS ON THE LAKE
Boat Parade & Fireworks

BOAT PARADE UPDATE: As of 8:00 pm the boat parade is well on its way BUT due to high winds, the fireworks have been cancelled.  We appreciate Spectrum Pyrotechnics standing by, waiting for the winds to settle down.  We'll enjoy their SPECTACULAR fireworks next year!

PARADE:   7:45 pm Lake Mendota (Maple Bluff to UW Memorial Union)
FIREWORKS:   9:15 pm Lake Mendota (Between Picnic Point & Edgewater Pier)

Parade departs Maple Bluff on Lake Mendota and follows the shoreline south to UW Memorial Union.
Fireworks launched from Spectrum Pyrotechnics’ barge anchored between The Edgewater Pier and Picnic Point.

Lights on the LakePrime Viewing Spots: (in order)

  1. Maple Bluff Beach
  2. Burrows Park
  3. Tenney Park
  4. James Madison Park
  5. Edgewater Hotel
  6. UW Union Terrace

PRE-SHOW EVENTS:Taste of Madison on the Capitol Square, Mad City Ski Team at Law Park, UW Ski Team (tentative) on Lake Mendota, and live music on The Edgewater Pier.

MAIN EVENT:The Grand Mariner/Google boat will lead the parade, followed by assorted decorated boats, including the UW Alumni Band barge and new this year, our “TEACH ME HOW TO BUCKY” showboat!

ENCORE:Fireworks will light the sky from the Spectrum Pyrotechnics barge anchored on Lake Mendota between The Edgewater Hotel Pier and Picnic Point. Join us in sending summer off with a BANG!

The 2009 Venetian Night was declared a "Huge Success" by Channel 3 during their live coverage of our event!
